History of Our Tire Manufactory Company
Retread Tires • Racing Tires

Hurst Racing Tires was started in San Diego, California, in 1961 by Ron Hurst. His company started making cheater slicks and drag race tires, then got into making sprint, modified, and stockcar tires for dirt and asphalt. Many of southern California's top drivers have won races and championships at ASCOT, Saugus Speedway 605, Orange Show Speedway, Cajon Speedway, and Southbay Speedway on Hurst™ tires.

Ron Hurst moved the business to Wendell, Idaho, in 1980 continuing to make winning tires at affordable prices. Eddie McKean won the NASCAR™ Great Northern Region Championship in 1991, and Paul Peoples won the NASCAR™ Sunbelt Region Championship on Hurst Racing Tires. HURST has been building high quality retread racing tires for over 45 years. In 2005 Hurst Racing Tires was purchased by Steve and Cody Adams of Oregon City Oregon and Moved to Oregon City.

We use radial and nylon tire carcasses to remold our rubber process onto used or new tire carcass. Our process is similar in many ways to how a new tire is made. The only thing , we recycle the carcass. The method is not like a truck tire, which has a pre-cured tread, applied with glue. Our tires are mechanically shaved down. Buffed to a precise level and then new, uncured rubber is reapplied via a computerized extruding machine. The tires are then inserted into individual molds that have the tread patterns in them and they are recured at high temperature and high pressure….just like a new tire.
